2024 Richard Anderson Memorial Capture the Light Photography Exhibition

Members of the public were invited to submit photographs that contained some image of the Oak Orchard Lighthouse via ShowSubmit.com, and members of the Oak Orchard Lighthouse Museum Board of Trustees selected three entries for purchase using funds from GO Art!, the Genesee-Orleans Regional Arts Council, through a competitive grant application in the NYS Council on the Arts; Statewide Community Regrant Program.  

Receiving recognition for their entries were:  Tom Rivers of Albion, for his image “OO-rora 2024,” featuring the rarely visible Northern Lights behind the lighthouse; Robyn Ottaviano of Middleport, for her image, “Guiding Light & Serene Sight, 2023,” featuring a sunset sky with a rainbow of colors behind the Lighthouse; and Claire Squicciarini of Albion, for her image, “Light in the Darkness  2024,” depicting the Lighthouse illuminated with flood lights installed in honor of her grandfather, Dick Anderson, longtime President of the Board of Trustees, himself a photographer, for whom the photography exhibit is named.

Eleven images were submitted by eight photographers, netting the museum $200 in entry fees.

The Board hopes to make the Capture the Light Photography Exhibition an annual event using ShowSubmit.com as a platform, and encourages all photographers, both amateur and professional to start taking shareable images of the Oak Orchard Lighthouse now for next year!

The Board also thanks the team at GO Art! For their assistance in offering the Capture the Light Exhibit.
